Having been teaching Art & Painting for several years I now feel free to dispense with any formal boundaries, happily mixing mediums. What is important to me is to capture the essence of the local environment, whether it be the remote local marshland or the rapidly disappearing old apple orchards of England.
I have chosen to include a selection of varied works in different medium: oil, acrylic, watercolour, ink, wax & organic material.
A favourite spot of mine deep in the woods a secret pond reflects the filtered light of the overhanging trees. In my usual impressionistic style with plenty of surface texture in acrylic, inks & a little gouache. Vibrant greens, yellows & touches of bright sky peeping through. Double backed board for durability, framed in light natural wood. Sealed for durability.
An old rusty trawler, beached on the shingle in the hot sunshine on summer day is occupied by a lone seagull. Based on a boat I've seen on Dungeness Beach in Kent. A mixed media painting with lots of surface detail in the shingle & flowering Sea Kale. I've used acrylic, oil & ink in this painting to create vibrancy. Rich blues, sandy yellows and splashes of emerald green in the vegetation. A cheerful composition. Sealed for durability. Painted on a good quality box canvas with edges painted too. Ready to hang on the wall.
Fresh green spring like painting of woodland birch walk with colourful pink foxgloves in the foreground & scattered in the background. Loosely painted in impressionistic style using mixed media, acrylic & inks. Edge painted onto box canvas ready to hang
Bring Summer into your home with this cheerful bright summer orchard landscape with apple blossom on trees & dandelions full flowered & seed heads in foreground. An impressionist style painting using dabs of thickly applied oil paint for texture. An uplifting piece that would brighten any room. Side painted sealed and ready to hang on heavy duty box canvas.
I love the simplicity of Modigliani portraits and have applied some of his expressionist techniques to create my own versions. This is one of a series of people with their pets. They say that people often resemble their owners ! This lady and her cat are at one but no question as to who is boss here! Painted in oil with surface texture with a little ink onto canvas board in rich hues underpainted in yellow ochre, signed. Sealed for durability. Ready for your own frame or can be simply propped against a wall. NB Frame is for display purposes only and not included. I CAN DO COMMISSIONS IN THIS STYLE FROM YOUR OWN GOOD PHOTOGRAPHS - FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME
Another version of Light Through the Forest influenced by my love of Breugel paintings. A rich, impressionistic painting using oil & inks to create a sense of calm using warm against cool colours orange, terracotta, red, brown and cool blue greens reflected light in the water & reeds. As always I've added some birds - a throw back from my admiration of Breugel paintings. Painted onto canvas and mounted onto board this painting has been sealed for durability and would look good in a deep frame for added impact. I have given an idea of what it might look like in a frame ( not included).
